Boys team poised for strong state meet

The 2010 season has been a good one for the boys’ varsity cross-country team.  The team swept their conference winning a first place trophy.  They also placed first in the sections meet on Thursday, Oct 28, and are going to the Nov. 6 state meet. Sophomore Luke Brown placed fifth overall with a 5k time of 16:54, or an average mile time of 5:26.69. Sophomore Jacob Eggers placed ninth, and freshman Ethan Wagner placed 10th.

The team worked very hard all season, as well as in the offseason.  Captain’s practices were every weekday all summer long to prepare the top runners for the strenuous season ahead.

“This season has been all about hard work,” said sophomore Mark Lind. “We lost four seniors last year, but we worked hard over the summer and reloaded our team and now we are looking at getting top three in state.”

All this hard work did have a few drawbacks like various injuries on a few of the top runners. However, the hopes are high for the team to make top three in state, and the pressure is on.
