Tron: Ares Movie Review

The third movie adaptation of the 1982 video game, Tron: Ares, is a completely different take on Tron’s usual plot line. Instead of people going into the digital world, this movie focuses on things coming out.

With an incredibly fitting and well-thought-out soundtrack written entirely by Nine Inch Nails, and amazingly realistic but cinematic cinematography with beautiful graphics, Tron: Ares is definitely a big hit in movies for 2025. Listen to As Alive As You Need Me To Be from the soundtrack; it’s great.

Critics have written a lot of mixed reviews for this movie, so if you’ve seen Tron and Tron: Legacy, you should definitely watch this one and review it yourself.

To give a brief summary (retaining from spoilers), the movie follows main character Ares in his rebellion against his creator in a wish for permanence, a code created by the creator of Tron and the transporter to the digital plane, Flynn. The code will allow Ares and any other thing from the digital plane to exist in the real world for more than 29 minutes. It’s a unique story with nice space for a sequel, which hopefully is in progress soon.

I really think this movie is another prediction about the future. Our control over AI is quite limited, and this movie subtly demonstrates how we think we’re in control, but in reality, it can be as simple as hearing the sound of rain for things to go downhill.

In my opinion, Tron: Ares was another great addition to the Tron series. If you don’t believe me, watch it for yourself. If you disagree, go ahead, but at least appreciate the soundtrack.
