New Faces at M.A.: J Wesley Rohrer, Science and Social Studies

Rohrer teaches Physics, Ancient History to 9th Graders

Wesley Rohrer, a new ancient world history and physics teacher, has impressed students with his energy. Outside of school, he loves taking adventures such as hiking with his dog and eating lots of new foods.

Rohrer has been teaching for 18 years and currently instructs 9th-grade students in social studies and science. He has taught many subjects and grades, from 6th to 12th grade, and is parent to a 7th-grade son and 12th-grade daughter.

Rohrer said he emphasizes intellectual curiosity and clear communication with all of his students. He values authenticity and he encourages his students to ask any genuine questions about life and society.

Rohrer is also an advisory leader for first-year students and a freshman seminar teacher. He believes in meeting students at their level and helping them transition from middle school to high school by understanding their social skills.

“I think the hardest part possibly about being a 9th grader might be that you’re moving from eighth grade,” he said. “You were sort of top of the pile now that moving into high school you’re suddenly at the bottom of the pile.”
