The boys basketball team made it to the state tournament for the second year in a row, behind a very strong performance in the section tournament by sophomore guard Gerald McCarver, averaging over 20 points per game in the tournament.

The Redhawks, who were given the three seed for the section tournament, cruised through their first two section games, beating Great River 96-47 and then Trinity at River Ridge 83-64.

In the section semifinals, the Redhawks faced the second seeded Blake Bears and beat them 57-53. The Redhawks then beat one seeded Concordia Academy-Roseville, who beat them 79-73 during the regular season, by a score of 62-58

The Redhawks played the Redwood Valley Cardinals in the first round of the state tournament and lost 70-65 in a game with 14 ties and 11 lead changes. The Redhawks had four players in double figures, but Cardinals’ junior guard Michael Busack was too much for the Redhawks to handle with 23 points and 19 rebounds.
