Minnesotans defy cold to protest ICE:
On Jan. 23, tens of thousands marched in downtown Minneapolis to protest Operation Metro Surge, calling for ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) to leave Minnesota. On Jan. 7, Renee Good, a 37-year-old Minneapolis resident, was shot and killed by an ICE agent in South Minneapolis, leading to an escalation of local tensions. The Jan. 23 protest consisted of a general strike called to protest the ICE presence. The downtown march drew at least 50,000 people when air temperatures ranged between -10 and -25 degrees Fahrenheit.
