New Faces at MA: Anthony Moss, American History

Anthony Moss, A Teacher Who Cares

When Anthony Moss, a native of the Bay Area of California, first got involved in education as a professional, he worked at a community college as a counselor for financially and educationally disadvantaged students. Originally he wanted to become a college professor, but eventually, Moss decided to switch to teaching high-school students because he thought he could make a greater impact on their lives. “People need good teachers,” Moss said. “They need smart teachers who really care about their subject and not just treat it like a job.” Minnehaha’s juniors will study with Moss in either Early and Recent American History or AP U.S. History. He has enjoyed his first few weeks at MA and said his favorite thing so far is the students. “The students are genuine, and they really care about each other,” said Moss, who has worked in education for 15 years, most recently teaching at a suburban public high school that had about 3000 students. Moss said he feels that he can connect better with students in Minnehaha’s smaller, closer community. Another thing he enjoys: the food. “Your food is better than public school food!”
