The boys’ basketball season is “going to be a great year for all of us,” said head coach Lance Johnson.

Practices start Nov. 9, and the first game is Dec. 6 at Maple River. The first home game is Dec. 13 against St. Paul Academy and Summit School. Last year, the senior class graduated seven out of eight top players on the varsity team. The returning player who saw the most minutes in the 2012-13 season is senior Jahleel Davis, who will be joined by several other players from their championship winning team.

Johnson and the other coaches have simple expectations for the team, including great competition in conference, a chance to win sections and most importantly, to play hard and have fun. As for the captains, seniors Davis, Tommy Ostrem and Joe Elmquist, the coaches expect to see great role models and leaders.

“I know our boys are really good guys,” Johnson said. “They’ll be fun to work with.”
