New Faces at M.A.; Matt Ferris, Sacred Studies

Matt Ferris returns to M.A. to teach 9th and 10th grade

Matt Ferris is returning to Minnehaha after 13 years to teach Old Testament and New Testament. Ferris worked in church ministry for 8 years and a brief amount of time working student success at Bethel university.

“It’s been fun to come back to MA,” he said. “I graduated from here, so it’s fun to see what’s the same but also what’s gotten even better since I was here.”

Ferris got a text from the senior English teacher Kris Sauer asking if he would ever want to teach the Bible at Minnehaha. Ferris was uncertain at first but by the end of the interviewing process, he said, “It was very clear that God wanted me here.”

Outside of teaching Ferris enjoys going up to his cabin, going to the zoo, and playing at the park with his 2-year-old son named Tully.

Ferris wants to teach students how to read the Bible for themselves, he said “if they ever want to know about what God says through scripture, that they can crack it open and know what it says.”
