Júlia Bajusová eager to try new things

Júlia Bajusová, a senior, is studying abroad at Minnehaha Academy this year. Bajusovà‘s home country is Slovakia, located in Central Europe. She attends the C.S. Lewis Bilingual School in Bratislava.

“I saw a great opportunity to try new things,” said Bajusová, “to discover a new culture.”

With this mindset, Bajusová earned a scholarship to learn at Minnehaha Academy for the first half of her last year of high school.

“I am really looking forward to all these special events, like a homecoming,” Bajusová said.

She is staying with the Streed family, which includes Samuel Streed, a freshman, Makenzie Streed, a junior, and Heidi Streed, the Upper School nurse.

“I would say that she’s teaching us to continue to value time together and to appreciate that,” said Heidi Streed.

Bajusová has already done many things during her stay here. She has gone jet skiing and tubing just to name a few.

“I was so happy to go to Dunkin Donuts,” she said. “It’s probably my favorite.”‘

Bajusová came to experience the famous winters of Minnesota and she finds everything bigger than back in Slovakia. She said she hopes to take advantage of all the opportunities that come her way.

Streed described Bajusová as someone who is eager to learn and try new things.

“When I look back,” Bajusová said, “I would like to feel like I have done everything I could here.”
