Kramarzcuk’s: a local favorite with a Redhawks connection

By Cristina Anfang

There are many things that come to mind when I think of the Twins. Joe Mauer, of course, Target Field, the die-hard fans and the great food I get every time I go to a game. It’s always the same: French fries, cotton candy and a Kramarczuk’s Sausage Co. hot dog.

Kramarczuk’s, has been a long time favorite for locals. Located on Hennepin Ave in Minneapolis, Kramarczuk’s has been serving up European meats since the mid-1950’s. It’s still owned and operated by Minnehaha alum Lucy Kramarczuk’s family.

Kramarczuk’s has gained national recognition, being reviewed in national newspapers and magazines, and most recently featured on the Food Network’s television show Diners, Drive-ins and Dives.

Kramarczuk’s makes their sausage every day, and is sure not to disappoint. Some are a bit spicy, but for the spicy food lovers, it is sure to hit the spot. Make sure to get a pierogi, my favorite, or try another traditional dish.

Although Kramarczuk’s is known for their sausage and more traditional European foods, my favorite part of Kramarczuk’s is the Sunday Brunch. For a fairly inexpensive price, Kramarczuk’s serves up European breakfast. Cucumber salads, Eggs Bennedict and every sort of breakfast meat you could think of. But the best part? Build your own waffles. Although the line can get a bit long, it’s definitely worth the wait. For someone who isn’t a huge fan of waffles, I went back for seconds. With a variety of toppings and syrups, you can’t wrong.

Don’t worry, if you can’t try everything you want there, or want to try other European treats, go next door and pick them up in Kramarczuk’s market next door.

So as opening day rounds the corner, make sure to check out Kramarczuk’s Sausage Co. It will become part of your favorites at Target Field too.
