Saying ‘bye’ to Bae

Minnehaha community says ‘goodbye’ to college and guidance counselor Lauren Bae

After having worked at Minnehaha for six years, college and guidance counselor Lauren Bae has decided to take a different position in the diagnostics center at Groves Academy, Minnesota’s only established school for learning disabilities, in St. Louis Park.

Bae will remain at MA throughout the fall semester until Dec. 21 and will transition to her new job in 2017, with an emphasis on consultations and evaluations. Though it will be hard for Bae to leave the M.A, community, she is excited about her new position and believes it will allow her to re-enter the field of psychology.

“I’m most excited about the opportunity to walk alongside students, whether they’re struggling or thriving, and help them to find their path,” said Bae. “I’m a big learner at heart, so an opportunity to help students discover their passions and their strengths is super exciting.”

While it will be bittersweet to say goodbye, Bae has appreciated and learned from her time at Minnehaha and hopes to have a similar impact at her new job.

“In my six years here, I have really worked hard to put programs into place so that it is a place where people have confidence,” said Bae. “I don’t want to leave. But I also feel that this might be something that I need to try one last time. I’m going to miss this place a lot.”
